Nutrients for cannabis

Just like humans, cannabis plants need a variety of essential nutrients to grow and thrive. You can split these essential nutrients into two principal categories: Primary Nutrients and Secondary Nutrients.

Primary nutrients consist of Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium. The combination of these three elements is known as NPK (or N-P-K). The NPK ratio is usually found on the front label of all bottles in the form of 3 numbers (ex 4-29-32).

Secondary nutrients include Calcium, Magnesium, Sulfur and Boron among others. Secondary nutrients are usually used as supplements and additives to further strengthen and support plants during specific stages.

At each stage of growth, cannabis plants need different ratios of the essential nutrients in order to reach their full genetic expression.

For example, during the vegetative stage, plants need higher levels of nitrogen to grow strong stems, leaves, branches and other biological compounds like chlorophyll and amino acids. Nitrogen deficiencies at this stage can badly damage your harvest. During the flowering stage, they require more phosphorus to promote denser buds and bigger yields.

As a grower, it's important for you to understand your plant's nutrient requirements at each stage of the grow cycle so you don't end up with nutrient imbalances and deficiencies that impact your yield and quality.

At Organitek, we have made a simple two-part cannabis nutrient solution that is easy to use and works in all mediums. Channel 1 and Channel 2 are designed to work in tandem with each other to support your plants through the full grow cycle from veg to bloom.

Powdered nutrients

Powdered nutrients are more concentrated than liquids and are easier to ship and store in large quantities. Powders require dissolving in RO water using mixing equipment before they are ready to use. Best for experienced growers and commercial operations and they cost less than liquids.

Liquid nutrients

Liquid nutrients are pre-blended which makes them much more convenient and easy to use than powders. Simply measure the volume you need and provided it to your plants during regular watering. Best for home growers and small operations.
